I really want A Wii but can't afford it.I have a friend who's selling his for a cheaper price but it's in Japanese but can play english. I was wondering if there is any downside in my decision. I can't read Japanese but I'm thinking that what really matters is that I can play english games.

  1. Yeah, I would advise against it, just because you will end up paying more. Sure, the console may be cheaper, but as you already mentioned, you wont be able to play American games...only Japanese ones, due to the Wiis region lock.

Thus, you will have to go out of your way to purchase Japanese games, which will end up costing you more since the American dollar is weaker than the Japanese Yen (if you purchase from a Japanese dealer), plus shipping will be a pain in the butt.

So yeah, I wouldn't recommend it. How much cheaper is your friend selling it for? Just save up a few extra bucks and buy an American one. It will save you a lot of hassle later down the road when you want new games.

Dont do it. Not all games are bilingual you will have to special order your games unless you mod it.
