Question:

Should I buy Bianchi Nirone 7 on eBay?

I have been looking for a new road bike, have been cycling for a couple of years and want to get a bit more serious. I'm not quite sure about the Mirage/Veloce mix though. Could I upgrade the Mirage or would it not be worth it? Any views?

The Item number is 190228190863 by the way.

Any views would be really appreciated!

  1. that bike is the dogs b@ll@cks you shouldnt have 2 change anything on that atall.... maybe just take it in somewhere for a service.

i recon the bidding will get high on that tho-  would not be suppriesd if it goes for between 600-700

    good luck

  2. The bike is not bad at all, but e bay sucks for many reasons.

    1) Poor customer service and commercial performance. No way I will trust them again after my experience with them!

    2) No way you can try and feel the bike

    3) No way to see if the bike really fits (and not the other way around, having to fit you into the bike afterwards).

Points 2 and 3 are specially important if you want to become serious in cycling. (or a bit more serious, sorry).

Better find a store where you can really feel and see if the bike fits and if there is a real future for you two together. After all, you will be travelling the same road for years to come.

  3. I own a 53cm Nirone 7 Coast 2 Coast. Mine's equiped with Tiagra shifters/derailleurs, FSA Vero triple crank and Shimano WH-R500 wheels. My frame and fork is the same as the one you're looking at except for the color.

I got it on clearance last November at Grey Goat Sports in Indianapolis for $750. It was listed at $950 and new 2008 models are $1100. I got a great deal on it! It's very upgrade worthy!

It's a very comfortable frame to ride for long distances and I like it a lot. Bianchi's been around since 1885 so I trust that they know how to make a good bike.

The only changes I've made was to swap the stock 12cm stem for a 10cm. Add Shimano M520 pedals and Vittoria Rubino Pro tires.

Incidentally, did you know Nirone 7 was the address of the original shop in Milan, Italy?

  4. My first bike had a low end Campy group on it and I was really happy that I started with Campagnolo since I really love their components but that is also a personal thing. Bianchi makes a good frame and I am sure you will be happy assuming it fits you.

Like people said, you really need to make sure it fits you. You should do one of those online bike fits and try to figure out if that is the right size for you.

I just bought a frame on Ebay and it worked out great. The frame was immaculate to the extent that I couldn't find any defects. I was lucky. Before the frame arrived, I regretted shelling that money out and decided I wouldn't do it again. I think you might be better off finding a bike in your area or on Craigslist so you know it is real and can check it out before handing over the money.
