Should I buy Nikon D200 for surveillance work?

I would spend the extra few bucks for the D300 for several reasons. The metering seems to be better in lower light, the autofocus is better under all conditions. The batteries last much longer in the D300 and it's got a bit better frame rate. It has a larger screen on the back. It also writes to the memory card a lot quicker if you use the newer Extreme IV's or similar cards.

Yes its a good choice. You need a fast lens with an aperture a 2.8 aperture and make sure its a Nikon.
