I have decided on a Cobalt SS over the SI and the Speed3, and would like to hear your reaction to this. Should have I have chosen a different car, or is this the top choice? Also, should I wait until 2009 to see if they update it or stick with the sick 2008 model?

  1. get the 09

The 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt boasts an improvement in fuel economy to 37 mpg highway when equipped with the 5-speed manual transmission with the addition of the more efficient and more powerful 2.2-liter Ecotec engine with variable valve timing. The Cobalt SS sedan is added and the Cobalt SS coupe receives a reconfigurable performance display. New 16-inch machined-face aluminum wheels are offered and three new colors are added: Silver Ice, Gold Mist and Silver Moss.

  2. I was just recently looking for a new car and I also had my choices narrowed down to the Civic Si, Mazdaspeed 3, and Cobalt SS Turbo.  I did a lot of research and checked them all out in person and last weekend I decided on the Cobalt SS and bought one.  I've had it a week and I love it!!  It has way more horsepower and torque than the Si, and it's also just a tick faster than the MS3. The Cobalt also handles better and has better fuel economy than both.  All three are great cars, but I just felt the Cobalt was a notch above in performance.  As far as the 2009 Cobalt SS's go, from what I've read the performance will be identical, with the same hp, torque, and handling.  The only major difference for the 09 lineup is the availability of the SS sedan.  If you don't need four doors I recommend the 2008 for sure.   Good luck finding one though cause they seem to be in pretty short supply right now.
