It's a 42 inch Vizio LCD for $800.00. Which is the best price ive seen lately for one. I dont know how long its been on display. Also if anyone knows where I should look for a good flat screen at least 42 inches, for around 600 - 800 dollars that would be great, might be difficult though.

  1. The average time frame for floor models is about 6-8 months before the store tries to sell them. They play for about 14-18 hours every day, make sure you keep that in mind. Usually they come with the same warranty (all Vizios 1-year parts 1-year labor) as long as it is an authorized reseller. The price tag seems about what it should be when you factor every thing in.

To answer the second question: you will not find a good 42” that is in that price range at this day and age (although prices are dropping rapidly on HDTV’s) sears drops there prices on there 42” Proscans to $899 every so often though:

  2. check out the issues with it, and see if it comes with the same warranty as a new one would come with.

  3. I've bought a number of display models, and if you look at them and check that all the inputs work you should be just fine.  If you're apprehensive, most stores will offer the replacement plan and you'll still be WAY under what a 42" LCD costs brand new.  Check the resolution on it though.  You shouldn't buy anything less then 1080P.  Figure that you'll have that TV for a long time, and blu-rays are only going to be more affordable now that they've become the standard for the next generation of movies.  You only get the full experince with 1080P, and there's no reason to kick yourself in 1 year and a half for buying a TV that can't handle it.
