I got my motorcycle license last summer. I have never ridden in with traffic. I took the 4 day closed course and passed. I am a 5"4' female, this will be my first bike and my first time riding with cars/traffic.

I did my research (online) and the 2008 Ninja 250R sounds like a good bike for me.

What do you think?

  1. Perfect bike for you. They also make a seat lowering kit to make it a cusum fit for you. I have a katna 750 it's alot of fun.

  2. if you can find one at a dealership, then get it. another alternative might be the hyosung bikes. hyosung also imports two 250 models here, one faired and one naked, but both air cooled.

  3. You couldn't pick a better bike. Kawasaki fully revamped the 250R giving it 17" wheels, better brakes, suspension and big bike bodywork. One of the biggest problems in America is that anyone with a license can buy a 200mph busa without learning to respect the talent it takes to control it. Therefore American's view motorcycles as donorcycles. In comparison, Europe and Asia have tiered licensing starting at 250, 400, 600, and finally 1000+cc's. This allows riders to learn and master the skill needed to really control their bikes. Making reactions second nature. This produces better riders, better public acceptance and a much stronger motorcycle industry. More options and models give more people the ability to express themselves by what they ride.  My three oldest children (17-24) think the 250R is just perfect for that task.  Even seasoned riders I've met riding them find it perfect. Plus in days of $4.50/gal gas  it's affordable riding fun.

Good luck and welcome to motorcycling,

    Bob
