Should I buy a Kia Sportage?

I am looking to buy a used suv. I like the look of a 2005 kia sportage, and it is in my price range with low miles. Does anyone have one a 2005 or later model?

  1. Try out Driverside. It's still in beta but for each model it has cost of ownership, quality ratings, lists of similar cars, technical specs and links to other sites that will help you out with more data. Also the pricing data by mileage will help you see how good the deal is.  Good Luck!

  2. Frankly speaking. People shouldn't talk if they don't know at least the basics of the issue. KIA IS OWNED BY HYUNDAI.

    This is from Edmund's

The Kia Sportage has come a long way. When it was first introduced in the U.S. in the mid-1990s, it was a cute but relatively unimpressive mini-SUV. It was underpowered, its interior was cheap and it was plagued with quality issues. Although Kia revised and updated the Sportage through the years, the modest changes weren't enough to keep it competitive. In 2002, Kia dropped the model from its lineup and went back to the drawing board.

    Current Kia Sportage

Launched in 2005, the current Kia Sportage shares nothing with the previous generation. Based on an entirely new unibody platform, the newest Sportage is more agile and more powerful. Now under Hyundai's ownership, Kia has improved its production quality and packaging in recent years. And that's evident with the Sportage. You can get a well-stocked Sportage with V6 power and 4WD for thousands less than its competition, making it one of the best values in the small-SUV category.

Since Hyundai has taken over, KIA has improved in reliablity. Although still not at Hyundai level (which is very near Japanese quality) it is a good value pick.

The Hyundai Tucson is also a good value as well.

  3. Honestly speaking, to buy a Kia is to waste money. And secondly, you asked the question in the wrong category. Kia doesn't belong to Hyundai.

  4. Truthfully, they have become better vehicles. They had the help of their sister company. If the price is right and it looks good to you, go for it. Good luck.
