  1. I would skip Mitsubishi for a HDTV.

I love my standard def Mitsu. They were the number 1 televisions available years ago. But when HDTV came out - they fell WAY behind:

    - TV's would only accept 1080, not 720

    - First DLP sets cost $9,999

    - Had the "Promise" program which they never stood behind and screwed early adoptors.

You wont find any Mitisubishi HDTV on a recommended list in "Home Theater", "Perfect Vision", etc.  They really dropped the ball/lost the market with their HD sets.

Go to the library and get the Dec issue of "Home Theater" magazine or the Jan issue of "The Perfect Vision". These have Editors Choice and Best of the Year articles which will tell you the make and models that are superior.

    LASER

The early reviews have been poor.  Only the person directly in front of the TV has a good image. Sit to the sides and the highly focused light misses you.  The Organic LED screens actually have a superior image, but you can only get very small screen sizes so far.

Instead of bleeding-edge, go for an existing Plasma or 120 hz, high contrast ratio LCD or a Samsung DLP.  These will actually be half-price compared to Laser/OLED and are in their third or fourth generation and are stable/mature.
