Should I buy a PS3, or send my 360 in for repairs?

I own a broken Xbox 360. I have talked to Microsoft, and the system is definitely broken. I think it is a broken video card, and they want $99 to fix it. I was thinking about sending it in for repairs, but was thinking that I would rather buy a PS3 instead. The Xbox 360 doesn't have many games that I like. I have owned it for almost 2 years, and only have 4 games for it. I have owned a Wii for about 8 months and have 6 (not including Wii sports). I also have a PSP that I have had for about 1 year, and I have 10 games for it. If I was to sell a broken Xbox 360, a hard drive, 2 wired controllers, a memory card, Sonic the Hedgehog 2006 for 360, Forza 2: Motorsport for 360, Star Wars Battlefront 2 for Xbox, and Soul Calibur 2 for Xbox, how much money do you think I would make? I would buy a used PS3 if necessary, and probably a game for it, like Ratchet and Clank: Tools of Destruction. Do you think I would make enough money to buy this? If not, how much do you think it would cost me? Or do you think I should send my Xbox 360 in to get repaired? I don't play it that much, so It wouldn't bother me, and I don't use Xbox live.

  1. patience.  If you're serious about a new system, save up your cash.  It doesn't quite get that quick fix, but if your 360 hit the fan, maybe do both.  I understand your situation, I own both systems, and just recently let go of the 360 for lack of use.  The ps3 is great, and by the way it sounds backwards compatibility may get some use.  Also, blu ray technology if you go to a walmart you can get a blu ray player or for an extra 12 dollars get that ps3 40 gb model.  as for pricing on the 360, the games you have are quite old, and thus the value has seriously depreciated since the 360 first came out.  You might be able to find a seller for 150 or 200.  I'd say if you're lucky 225 tops.

  2. If you still have warranty on your 360, than call microsoft and they will send you a new box in a week. As for selling the box, you wont get much if your selling it to a game shop. They really know how to rip off customers. For example, i wanted to sell my 360, but they were only willing to give 80 bucks. It's not worth it, i put hundreds of dollars into my 360, so it's not a good idea to sell. I on the other hand use Live, without it i dont think it's worth buying or reparing in your case. I enjoy playing the wii also (i like the mario style games) so if your anything like me, keep your wii. As for 360/PS3, either get the box reparied or dont bother with any of the two, maybe downgrade to a ps2/xbox if you like some of the games on those types of consoles.
