Should I buy a Subaru Impreza?

I'm looking to buy an inexpensive used car. Based on comments I've seen, a lot of people seem to like the Impreza. It appears to be a dependable car, and the only negative comment I've seen in multiple comments is that it could use a bit more room in the back. Apart from that, it seems like a good car for me to buy, but I'd like to read even more opinions, particularly from people who have owned or at least driven an Impreza before.

depends which one you get, I had a 1999 WRX when I was 20 and it is a lot of work on your wallet, with insurance, tax and then you consider the up keep of the car, properly looking after it that is, petrol, tyres, new oil every 3000 miles and if your doing that you'd be as well servicing it with new filters etc.
Fuel economy? c**p if you drive it like you stole it, good if your a granny with her hearing aid switched off there isnt really a happy medium. you would probably be cheaper and push similar power with a Vauxhall VXR
