Should I buy a car?

I have a 1997 Jeep, it has started to become a money pit with all the repairs. I will be traveling all over the country for the next year for my job, should I buy a used car that gets better gas mileage and make payments, or keep the Jeep I have that is all paid off?

  1. Dump the Jeep and get a Honda.  They're comfortable, economical and reliable.  Even if you take a hit on the sale of the Jeep, just think how much money you'll be saving getting 35 mpg on a new Accord vs 23 mpg on the Jeep - not to mention no more costly repairs.  Even fuel more savings on a Civic or Fit.

  2. Buy a honda accord. they are so worth it. overall it saves you so much money.

  3. sell the jeep. and buy a spacious used gas saving car. dont waist your money on a car that is going to burnout in the next 5 years of driving it.

  4. I also agree with previous commenters.

Guess you should also compare insurance quotes for the economy Japanese car and your Jeep before buying one, for example here: http://autoinsurance.bebto.com

It will be less expensive to insure.

  5. With gas being as much as it is, it may be worth it to sell it and get a car with better mileage. You would have to figure out how much you would be saving on gas. It might be worth it if you will be traveling a lot with gas prices that never seem to stop going up.

I hear it's hard to get your hands on a car with good gas milage these days. Someone offered me 8k for my 98 Honda Civic and that's somewhere around twice as much as the kbb value.

  6. if you can sell the jeep for a decent price then yeah I would get a new car

  7. another car in great condition Gas economic

  8. get an electric car
