Should I buy a motorcycle or scooter?

I just recieved my motorcycle permit and I can't decide if I should buy a 250cc scooter or a motorcycle. I don't know where you can find affordable motorcycles other than craigslist. I was researching the CMS Roadster Touring Moped 250cc and I thought it looks like a really nice scooter and it goes fast enough. I only want something that goes up to 70mph. Does anyone know much about the CMS Roadster. Are there better quality scooters out there that are affordable or should I try to find a cheap motorcycle?

  1. It depends upon your budget and how you're going to use it. A 250cc Scooter will go 70 mph and very economical. For city riding, it's great. If you plan on riding on freeways and ride long distance, a motorcycle will fit you better.

Other cost to consider: motorcycle insurance. If your budget allows, go for a motorcycle. If you are just looking for an economical form of transportation in and around town, a Scooter will work just fine.

  2. Pass on the 2-stroke 250cc moped since it's a pain to constantly decoke the carbon out of the exhaust pipes.  Look for a 4-stroke scooter such as a used Honda Elite 250.  My preference is towards a scooter since there's no need to shift or operate a clutch.

    Good luck!

  3. motorcycle.

  4. It is  pretty clear that those people do not know anything about scooters. A 250 will run 70mph and then some. There are several decent reliable scooters on the market now. I recommend looking at Kymco and Hyosung and Genuine. With  the Kymco's there are 250's that will    give a 250ninja a run for its money. Scooters are not nerdy to anyone except a 10 year old squid   they do not wear out tires faster. they do give good gas mileage and are a lot of fun. The ones I have told you about are not imported junk just  good reliable machines.

  5. Scooters are heavier, are harder to repair, and wear out tires quicker than a motorcycle of the SAME displacement.

Scooters do have secure underseat storage though. You must mount a set of hard bags or a trunk on a motorcycle.

  6. Get a 300cc scooter. o_O

    Or the Honda Silverwing. :]

  7. Well a scooter is alot more economical and cheaper to run.... but you may look like a nerd, if you want a hotty (or two) id say get a harley davidson wooooO!

  8. motorcycle

  9. motorcycle.... so that you can go to parties,  biker bars and to the rides
