  1. get the portable cause u can walk and get in other cars or ride a bike and u can change the voice to have a s**y person talk to you,,,

  2. The factory Honda GPS provided by Alpine have limited features such as in rual area, it will not allow you to route due to the roads have not been physically driven by NavTeq the map providers.

Your passenger will not be able to program the navi unit while you are driving which is a safety feature the manufacturers demand.

I would say you can go wrong with buying an after market portable for the price of the map update disc since you can transfer it from car to car and the unit will be more up todate than even the new map update disc Honda try to sell you.

There are tons of PND available and they are all pretty good, but to play it safe, stick with the top 3 GPS manufacturers and you should be o.k.

I would recommend for you to consider the Garmin Nuvi 260W 4.3" display, NA coverage with Text to speech ability. No Bluetooth but this unit is a deal at $239,99

Than consider the TomTom ONE XL 330-S which also offers a 4.3" display with Text to speech feature only for $299.99 a great deal.

Last but probably one of the most full feature GPS you can buy at the $299 price will be the Magellan Maestro 4250, it comes with voice command, Text to Speech, Bluetooth hands free, Full North America map, AAA tour book and a 4.3" display. This is the best deal going currently if you wish to have it all for under $300

Not sure which one will meet your requirements? rent one from GPS4Rent at http://www.gps4rent.com/ and test drive as many of these as you wish.

    Hope this helps
