Should I buy a women's Lemond Etape for $599?

I'm a little new to road biking, but am looking to purchase somewhat of an decent road bike for my size (5'3") and experience. I went to some local bike shops and saw a women's Lemond Etape in a 49 on sale for $599. I test rode it and it felt great. I really wanted to get a Trek Pilot 1.2 WSD or the 1600 WSD (both because of the side shifter thingys! sry I don't know what the technical term is), but it's a bit out of my price range. I'm wondering if I should jump on the $599 deal before the Lemond gets sold or wait a while till some other bikes (like one ones mentioned) become cheaper once 2009 models come out later in the year? I'm thinking if I get really into road biking I can always upgrade parts on the Lemond, such as better brakes, shifters, etc. Any input would be greatly appreciated!

  1. That's $150.00 of the list price.  It's a great deal.

Lemond (a subsidiary of Trek) will not be made in 2009.  Trek dropped their marketing relationship with Greg Lemond (He's very outspoken).

Next year that bike will have a Klein brand on it and will cost more
