43,000 miles, Mazda 5, never had any problems. Have never used any of the extended warranties that I have purchased on cars. Can't decide if I should even waste the money investing in one this time.

  1. No.  All the extended warranty does is pre-pay for repairs that you may never need.

They are expensive to buy, hard to use and they are huge profit makers for the dealership.

Invest the money, you'll come out way ahead.

  2. No Mazdas, generally tend to be very reliable as are all j*p cars. Aslong as you look after it, it should look after you. One thing to bear in mind with warranties is check what they cover, as some people will sell you a warranty that covers next to nothing, and you pay a high price for it!

  3. They are not usually cost effective, just save your money and if you happen to need major repair then pay for it. You money is much better spent in proper maintnence of the car.

  4. Extended warranties are a rip-off.  Why else would they try and sell them to you?

It's pretty rare that under proper care an engine or transmission fails.  Those are the only two items i can think of that would cost more than the price of an extended warranty.  Save your money, pay for repairs, if needed.  They may not even be needed.

  5. no

just put that same amount of money into a savings account and don't touch it unless you need it for repairs.
