Should I buy intercom system that my house is already wired for or a wireless one?

The house has connections at the front door and one each upstairs and downstairs. After fruitless shopping for systems in local electronics stores (couple of yrs ago), we gave up. Well I'm finally tired of fruitless yelling from top and bottom of staircase - 99% of the time unless a door is cracked you're gonna have to do the duty and traverse those steps. Theres also the yelling around corners and down hallway, not to mention endless trudging to the front door to get rid of sales people, missionaries and to tell my sons friends he's not home.

I don't know why, but last week I just got fed up. It's time to get that intercom! I go online today to do some research and notice there are 'wireless' systems. So.....which is best? Is there a big difference? And how hard would it be to add a 3rd inside unit to the downstairs back hallway where it hasn't been wired? Thanks in advance for any info.

  1. I would go with the wire one.  Wireless works off of the air waves.  When my kids were young I had a baby monitor in the house and it would pick up some of the neighbor's cell phone calls.
