Question:

Should I buy the 2006 Cleveland Hibore Driver or the 2007 Cleveland Xl Hibore Driver?

I went to the golf shop today and was hitting a 2007 Cleveland Hibore Driver with the stiff Fujikura shaft and low kick point, I absolutely was ripping em. I asked how much it was and the guy said he could give it to me for $175. I then noticed a 2006 Cleveland Hibore Driver in the used area and also hit it. This also had the nice shaft with it, the guy said he would give me that for 89.99. So my question is, is it worth it to spend and extra $100 to get the XL driver. I have narrowed it down to these to and am not interested in any other driver.

  1. I hit the original Hibore in 2006 and was impressed.  It was straight, straight, straight.  Sounded like a gun.  I didn't think that they did any significant changes in head design in 2007. That being said. The $86.01 isn't a lot of difference in a club you seem to like better.  I would definitely purchase the 2007.

  2. The Hi-bore and the Hi-Bore XL don't have a big difference.  And, there isnt much difference between the XL and new XLS.  However, there is a difference between the Hi-Bore and the XLS.

Personally, I just bought the XL and love it, also bought the Halo hybrids 2 and 3 and love those as well.

  4. get a cobra speed LD best driver out there

  5. Buy the one you have most confidence with.

  6. No.  The only thing different is the slighlty larger head, which will only help your mis-hits.  If you can hit the sweet spot over half the time, don't waste the money.

According to Frank Thomas (franklygolf.com) drivers purchased within the last 5 years aren't very different, especially for better players.

If the $90 driver feels good to you, go with it.  If the $175 driver will help your ego, have at it.  You gotta be confident over the ball, I'm just tryin to save you some dough.  Hit 'em well this year!
