Question:

Should I buy the BlackBerry Curve or wait for new ones to come out?

I was just about to buy a Verizon BlackBerry Curve, but later found out there is going to be a Bold, Thunder, Javelin, Niagra, and probably others. The Curve attracted me because it was considerably smaller for a full QWERTY phone.

So, is it worth the wait? And which ones seem to stand out?

  1. The Bold has a hideous leather backing, cheap-looking glossy black plastic casing, and the same d**n keyboard as the 8800 World Edition (which is facing extinction soon). That same keyboard is what caused everyone to turn to the Curve and go, "Ah, much better!" The Thunder is a touch screen, à la the iPhone, even though most true BlackBerry users are probably wont to use tactile buttons. Some of the others that will appear later (September for the Bold and Thunder, all others are still TBD) are going to be flip phones. From what I've read and seen, the prototypes look like glorified Motorola Razr2s. Pass.

The Curve is by FAR the best device. It's just the quintessential BlackBerry.

Edit: the keyboard is fundamentally the same as the 8800 series because the keys are not spaced properly and slope into the neighboring buttons. The Curve has the theoretical advantage of having spaces between each key to allow for better control. But until either you or I put our hands on a Bold, it's all just amorphous reviews and suggestions.

Oh, and I have tiny hands -- too tiny for the 8800 and just adequate for the Curve. Check the specs on the Bold and compare widths. According to engadget and several other sources: 4.5" tall x 2.6" wide x 0.5" deep. Thinner and wider than the Curve by a tiny bit.

  2. buy a phone u love  bc if u keep waiting for the bigger better thing u will never get one  bc technology never stops getting better!!

  3. i have the blackberry curve...

it was one of the nicest phones on the market when i got it,

honestly: its nice, its easy to use with countless amount of features, but I'm beginning to get bored of it...

check out the new phones first, but remember the curve is still a great all around blackberry that's built more for personal life than business...and there are more celebrities who have the curve than even the iphone.
