Should I buy the Kawasaki Ninja 500 or the 650?

I'm going to be getting a bike within the next week and I have been looking at different ones and the Ninja's look like the best I've seen so far... I'm not sure if I should get the 500 or 650 though, I would like to have better MPG but then again I don't want to get bored of the bike after 6 months or so. Does anyone know which would be better, or is there a better bike that I should consider buying or are the ninja's good? Thanks!

  1. I have 2 Ninja 500's (ones more of a parts bike) and it was my first bike. They are great first bikes, very reliable and easy to handle as well as comfortable. However..... you WILL want more power in about 2 to 6 more months same as I did the 1st month I owned mine. So seriously Id go for a 600 or 650. Unless your tiny or really irresponsible your not gonna kill yourself as alot of people try to tell begginers. You really cant go wrong with a 600, pretty much all modern 600's are great bikes. I dont know which 650 your talking about so I cant really comment on that though. If your refering to the SV650 than you may want to reconsider because Ive read that the Ninja 500 is actually accelerates faster than the SV650. Dont quote me on that though.

  2. Neither.  See the link.

  3. I agree with Jay...

Kawasaki is a good company, and the 2 you mentioned are good beginner bikes, but you should look around a dealership or 2 and see what else you like..

  4. right off the bat i can tell youve no or little experience, which isnt a bad thing, which is why ill take the time to help you.

Nothing wrong with a ninja, 500 is a standard bigginers bike, the 650, well depends on which 650 youre referring to.....as a beginner the 500 is fine.

Gas mileage isnt a concern between the 2 bikes, they both will get decent mileage, and once you figure out how to ride it, youll never get the mileage Kawasaki claims it gets as you will be on the throttle more than the brakes.

I wouldnt just look at the "Ninja" either, there are tons of other or rather "better" bikes than the kawi ex 500.
