There's only a few discernible differences between the units, mostly slight variances in power and subwoofer, which in all honesty loud isn't a huge issue, I just care about good sound.

My main sticking point is color, my present TV is an older plasma, 42" enhanced def Panasonic (bought before the HD craze). It is silver/metallic in color, closer to the 700S. However, once I get a new job I will probably buy a new TV (looking at some lovely Samsungs though Panasonic has a few decent models) that matches.

Price is a minor issue, saving $20 would be nice, but as long as it's not over $300 I don't really care. Do eeny meeny, rock paper scissors, or maybe even some analytical reasoning to help me decide which is the best bet please!

  1. You can find 705 for under $600 on the net - from J&R, B&H Photo, etc.

I did not do the direct comparison between the two, but watch them both in my friends' systems.  The quality was pretty much the same - both video and audio.

But I think that extra HDMI input and more sophisticated Audissey system is worth extra $200 or so.

If your CD player is not up to par, or you use iPod or other digital source - consider 805 for about $750 - it has Burr-Brown DACs.
