I'm about to buy a used snowboard from a friend which is in excellent condition but the mountains close on the 14th of april. should I wait and buy one at the beginning of next season or should I get it?

It's a Nitro board which was 600$ with 300$ Burton bindings which he will sell to me at 200$.

I don't want to pay more than that because i'm a beginner.

  1. As you are a begineer rider its important to buy a board that you can ride and progress on and not buy one that is too advanced for you. The board in the photos does look excellent condition as does the bindings but you need to know the model of the board to find out what type of board it is and what level of rider its for. If it turns out to be for an advanced rider it will be no good for you, which to be honest is likely as you dont get entry level models for $600. It does look like a good deal though you could consider buying it and selling it on, and buying a more suitable board with the money you make. Good luck.

  2. Don't wait for the beginning of next season, prices will be a lot higher. $200 for a Nitro board is a good deal, especially with the Burton bindings. Both are good quality and will last a long time. You'll pay that much just for a good set of bindings. I've had 2 Nitro boards and both are really good. I used the first one for 3 seasons and the start of this season (so I wouldn't ruin my new board with the early season conditions), and it is still a good board. So the board will last for a couple of seasons easily.

  3. Not enough information.

    Board...  model? year? length?

    Bindings... model? year?

What type of riding do you plan to do?  Not sure?  Which ski resort will you mainly ride at?

Either way, it seems overpriced.  $500 for a used (but excellent condition) setup.  At the start of next season there will be a much larger selection of gear, including this years gear which will now be on sale.  Keep an eye on ebay and online stores for sure.

My setup this year is great.  I got a board that's perfect for me in terms of the riding I do, the size, etc.  My bindings are great too.  If you shop around it's easy to find a good deal.

My setup:  2007 Capita Indoor Survival 158, 2007 Burton Mission Poncho bindings.  All brand new $480 total.  (value in store $600-$700)

Let me know the answers to the above questions and I can give you an exact answer.

PS.  Since you're just a beginer don't worry too much about which brand you choose - just make sure the setup is good for the type of riding you do, your size, etc.  Boots are the most important gear since if your fit are sore/cold/hot or slip around in the boot no matter what is below you your day is ****.

  4. Buy it it's a steel

  5. Buy it.  My first board was a Nitro.  If you don;t like it, you should be able to get the 200 clams back if you sell it.  Don;t wait until the first part of next season.  All the product will be current and the prices at their highest.

  6. Nitro makes great stuff - I have had 2 of their boards and have been very happy with them.   I sold my last one used for $200 and it is still going...  If the board is less a few years old then go for it: get on that board and ride until the 14th!

  7. don't buy it.

Now is the time too look into a new board.

Like a burton clash. Everything is going on sale!

Buy a new board bindings and everything.

Its going to be worth is trust me

  8. i think you should wait cuz the prices in the summer are always lower

  9. nitro boards are awsum!!!! id buy just the bindings for 200!!! i rekon buy it and if you grow out of it or sumthins wrong just sell it on ebay... youll get more than what you paid for so yea ull end up makin money. yea go ahead and buy it
