Question:

Should I buy this on eBay?

So, I found this lovely new 22" HP LCD Monitor on eBay for only $39.99 (reg. around $250)! The seller's reputation is good - 100% and a score of 42. He claims that this item is wholesale and brand new and can ship to Canada for free (orig. from USA). I'm a little skeptical of this because...

-no model number were listed

-item is sold 'as is'/final sale

This is my first time buying on eBay. I need help from all you eBay buyers!

  1. Have a look at the other items he has sold, a score of 42 is quite low and even though he has 100% positive feedback, this could have come from selling low risk "normal priced" items. It could be his first attempt at a scam, after having built up a decent reputation.

My advice would be to check him out thoroughly, use Pay-Pal!!! and, if he has sold other products like this, check out the buyers to see if they are legit.

    Hope this helps xox

  2. Psst.  I have this genyouwine Roll-Ex Oistre watch, that originally sold for $5,000, and I can let you have it - still in the original wrapping - for only $100.  Sounds like a scam, yes?

For $225, or even $200, if it's a current model, it would probably be legit.  Maybe even as low as $150.  But $40 is *WAY* below wholesale.  It's probably way below HP's cost to make it, and one thing HP is *not* in business for is to lose money.

It's up to you, but I wouldn't waste 2 seconds looking at the page, let alone thinking about buying it.

  3. Does it have a photo of the monitor displaying something like a typical Windows Application?  If that photo is not there, do not buy.

But seriously, do not purchase with the expectation that it works or at least in new condition.

At best, the monitor was dropped once and it only has some physical defects (scratches on the plastic, monitor might even have a few minor scrapes but is still visible/operational.) and the box it came in looks like crud.  [Was shipped to warehouse and this box wasn't properly secured.]

Most likely the monitor is a repaired unit.  In which case you get no warranty.

Seriously, just buy a monitor from a standard retail outlet.  At least then if the monitor doesn't work, you can exchange it for a working unit.

  4. don't buy anything that needs shipping from abroad.

if it has no size- i meen like actual sizes for length etc.

    then its a scam

the person will give u a model of the television. and because it abroad it will take about 1 week plus 2-3 days to get to you then by that time your warrenty would have ended.

if you ask me i wouldn't

make sure your read the persons feedback on other product and check the negative and positive
