  1. If you have the money buy two, Maltese dogs have A LOT of energy. And usually wants someone to play with them.

  2. Defiantly get 2 that breed gets lonely. As far as the training they both need a good amount of time spent with both of them. But they are both diffdifferentpies and one may catch on faster than the other. just be patcient and have fun. Goood Luuck

  3. 2 is a huge amount of work at the same time. You have to house break together, play together and separate and train them together and separate. They is always the issue that they will bond to each other and not you making it hard to train and work with.

  4. If your buy from a responsible breeder then you should not be allowed to buy two from the same litter.  It is far harder to train two at the same time and you should give one puppy all your time so it feels extra special. The ideal time to get your second puppy would be on the first dogs, first birthday so it is young enough to play but disciplined enough to allow you to train the second pup.

    Hope this helps.

  5. you should buy 2 so one wont get sad from being away from its brother

  6. I would just get one for now.

    1. Initially, puppies are a lot of work. You need to take them out a lot and you need to do a fair amount of training (housebreaking, train not to chew on shoes, train not to go on furniture, etc.).

    2. You want some time to bond with the puppy. If you get two, they may bond to each other and not get used to human company.

    3. Puppies can be very expensive. Initial shots and vet visits can come up to $700-$1000 just in the first few months.

After I got my first puppy, I waited another year before I got my second. By this time my first guy already knew the house rules, knew how to walk, etc. When I got my second puppy, I had to deal with a whole new set of challenges; mostly dealing with the dogs interacting with each other (e.g. stealing toys, bully behavior while playing). This was however manageable because my first dog was already fairly well behaved. Also at 2 years of age, he was still very active and able to really appreciate a new puppy.

  7. if its your first dog, i would say get one because dogs are hard to take care of. one is enough. and im not sure about the training.

  8. If you want you puppy to bond with you, I would get just one.

Make sure you buy from a responsible breeder or a shelter.

Make sure you can see at least Mom and Dad would be good too.

    As for training.

It is an everyday thing for the rest of the dogs life.  How much time a day you want to devote to it depends on you and your dog.

  9. You should save a dog from the pound. Save two actually. Buying dogs is cruel to it's parents. I work in a shelter and we have maltese's all the time that come from puppy mills. Its people like you that add to the problem. So please. Really. Look for other options.

  10. 2 so it has a friend....its sad 2 c it lonely when ur tired of playing with it

&  my puppy has 2 friends

    my cats

  11. ONE!  If you cant devote the time to give your dog enough attention, then you shouldnt get one anyways.  Getting 2 to avoid lonliness is a poor reason.  If you cant take the time to train and socialize one.. then 2 just means 2 dogs who are being destructive and obnoxious.

Dogs learn behavoirs from each other.. both good and bad!

Its hard to housebreak and train A puppy..  2 puppies is double the work.. PLUS

If you only have one, he will learn to focus his attention on you more easily.  If you have 2, he will ignore you and prefer his puppy playmate.  Its harder to train with 2.

Housebreaking is harder because you will have 2 puppies peeing and making potty smells in the house.

Your best bet is to get one..  get him housebroken and trained.  6 months or so later, if you want and can afford a second dog, then you can consider one.  It will be easier with the second one because he will learn some of the housebreaking and good behavoirs from your older one.

  12. You'll have to ask yourself if you can afford 2 puppies... And I mean, vet care, shots, licensing, training, food, toys, etc...

If you are able to afford the lifetime care of 2 puppies, then great. They'll sure enjoy having the company of another dog when you're not home.
