Question:

Should I call a pumber or someone else for my basement leak?

There's water coming in around a white PVC pipe in my basement when it rains heavily.

The pipe is cemented in a square tunnel, but I don't know what the pipe is for or where it goes. However, after all this leakage, the cement has washed away and now pebbles from the cement are coming out. It doesn't appear to be coming from the pipe, but I don't know what kind of professional to call other than a plumber.

What are your suggestions?

  1. Tool guy has a great suggestion, I would only add that you should call someone that will give you a free estimate, no reason to pay yet! Don't be afraid to get a couple opinions.

  2. It sounds like ground water from the rain. I would seek the opinion of a water abatement contractor. Check with your local lumber yard or hardware store for recommendations. Some fixes are quite simple, others more complex. Get a second opinion if it is costly. Good Luck

  3. Sounds like the waste pipe going to the sewer.  You can dig it up out side the foundation and recement it. Then patch it up on the inside as well to plug the leak.
