Question:

Should I call out of work tomorrow?

I just got this job about a week ago. It's called Ruth's Chris steakhouse, and I am a server assistant. Tomorrow will be my first day making tips because I just finished training. About a week ago, my friend got tickets to this Phillies game and I told him I could go with him. Being that the game is tomorrow, I don't want to cancel on him and not go to the game. Should I call out of work tomorrow? If so, how do I go about doing that, because I do not want to lie to anyone.

  1. Calling out from work is supposed to be for if you are SICK or have an emergency.  Getting tickes to a baseball game is not an emergency.  If you do it and your boss finds out, he will likely never trust you again when you call out.  Is a baseball game worth jeopardizing your job??

  2. Tell your boss the truth and see if he will give you the day off. Otherwise, you probably should go into work unless you requested that day off at the time of hire and your employer agreed to it.

    Thanks for asking.

  3. Go to work, maintain an excellent work history then have your fun.

  4. Try to get your shift covered, if not then go to work and miss the game.

  5. try and find another servers assistant to cover you.

    *EDIT*

its funny that you wrote the name of the restaurant on the question...what if someone from your job reads yahoo answers?!?! haha
