My last name is Goldman, and everybody thinks I'm Jewish because of that (I'm not Jewish). Should I change it? Is my last name fine?

  1. change..

have a last name that fits who you are.

when you change religions, you become seperated from the family. then you change your last name to signify that

  2. Goldman is a fine name. I don't see why it would matter whether or not it sounds Jewish. My last name is Scottish and I'm in no way Scottish, but it doesn't matter to me or anyone else who hears it.

  3. change last name isn't very good.

  4. who cares what people think.  I'm short and have red hair, so people think I'm Irish, but I'm not...it doesn't matter.

  5. If you're proud of your family, keep it.  But if people thinking you're Jewish is a bad-ish thing, change it.  Maybe figure out what it was before it was anglicized and go back to that!

    Geltmann, in German, perhaps?

  6. No "A rose by any other name would only smell as sweet" Shakespear. but if you really want to confuse people change your first name to Christian Goldman.

  7. Your name is fine, and be happy people think you're Jewish. Some people may stereotype them, but they're a lovely, nice group of people with an accepting, in most sections, religion. I mean, honestly though, Don't change your name unless it really makes you feel disjointed in your self perception.
