Question:

Should I clarify myself if I realized that I have said the wrong things to my boss?

My current boss was giving a talk regarding falsification and fraud, and we were encourage to discuss and talk about this matter. After the meeting, I was speaking to my boss and in the conversation, I told him about me knowing that my former boss falsified some data for publication, and what he would do if he is in my shoe. However, after asking the questions (and from the reply he gave me), I have a feeling that my current boss think that I am 'bad-mouthing' about my former boss, and that I should not have said those things about him. He said that I should handle the matter carefully and with someone I can trust, and not go about announcing this to everyone (which I did not). I feel that probably he is thinking that if I can said something as bad about my former boss, I might do the same to him in the future. What should I do? Should I go and clarify with him that I asked simply because we were chatting about that topic, and not because I love to go around saying bad things about my boss? I am very troubled.

  1. The conversation came up and you spoke- you can't take it back.  You should of said something about the former boss when it happened.

The current boss will probably watch every move he makes around you, as he might be afraid you are watching for him to make the same mistakes.  You would have the ability to blackmail him then.

If you were not going to say something about the former boss when it happened, you should not have ever brought up what happened.  I would not talk about it anymore.

  2. no!!its okey, you should only troubled if you do sin.telling the truth is not a sin but its okey to do less talk to have less mistake,But if talking is needed to cite an example and to warn those who are doing bad then thats fine!!dont be afraid in your boss..afraid to commit lies

  3. IMO what you said to u r boss was right at that moment but if u r boss feels anything wrong about that than u should clearify u r intention to him before he chategorize u in the group epoples that talks bad on the persons back.

  4. You were well with in your rights. The topic was falsification and that's what you were talking about. It just goes to show that they have meetings and you can't believe a thing they say. Just let it go you were right and he is a fraud.
