Question:

Should I commute or move?

What's your opinion?

Should I commute Monday through Friday for 50 minutes to 1 hour each way?

Or should I consider moving closer?

I own a home so moving isn't easy, but it's possible. Commuting is expensive and I'm not sure if sitting in the car for 2 hours a day is worth it.

Thanks for your opinion!

  1. Are you stuck in your community for some reason (spouse's job, kids' school, or something like that)?

If not, then just move.  Sitting in a car for 2 hours  a day isn't worth it, not only financially but also for your health and stress level.

  2. I would recommend moving since time is also valuable. I have a job that is located about 44 miles from my home and the commute is killing me in both time and fuel costs not to mention wear & tear on my car.

  3. Its much better to live closer to your work.  (better for your health, better for you financially and better for the environment - sitting in a car for 2 hours a day is definitely not worth it on a lot of levels)

  4. It depends if you can buy or rent in the town your working in.

My time is worth allot and any vehicle cost 50 cents a mile to drive. deduct that from your current pay. It might be smarter to just find a job where you live. It cost a lot to sell a house also.

  5. driving is fun and unless U dont like it -need to be closer -the cost of traveling is more $ than your caculations -or takes away that time U could be doing some thing else then consider moving if the move is going to benifit 2 hours -is the job  money worth the move? if so than its worth the 2 hours,,,
