I'm starting university next year and I don't know whether to carry on living at home or to move into the halls of residence. I could easily get to the university by train each day, but i'm just worried that i'm going to miss out!

  1. For your first year I would say live in halls (if you can afford it). It will be easier for you to make friends and to go out with them at night etc etc it's a really great experience - a big part of the fun! You could move back home in your second year when you've made plenty of friends and feel at home in your uni. I started uni in the UK where I lived in halls for a year and then I moved back home to france and lived at home for my first year so I've experienced both. I much prefered living with my friends. There's a lot more freedom, you'll have a blast!

  2. Whatever is cheaper and will give you the advantage.  Living in the dorm is fun, and it's part of college life.  And yes, you will miss out on the craziness.  Commuting is more comfortable for your parents, but if they are a bit apprehensive, they will not mind you  commuting.  Hopefully you will visit the dorm of choice, and observe for a few hours what is going on there.  Some dorms are not condusive to study, and some are.  Be Blessed Now--- Toni D.
