I work in the fountain (ice cream) part of Friendlys and I work with this 40 something woman (im 18). she is driving me crazy. she will loudly correct me on the simplest things in front of customers and other coworkers and yell things like "who taught you to use a knife like that?? who??" she will tell me to do things that I was told not to do by the managers. if I make a mistake on an ice cream sometimes she goes up to the waitress that is taking it and whispers stuff to them like she is talking about me. if im making ice cream for waitresses she will yell at me for not making ice cream for the carryout customers, and vice cersa. shes said things to me like "if you **** up my drawer ill kick your ***" when I took over her cash drawer for 5 minutes, and once I left an empty whipped cream can out and she tried using it and then said to a waitress "i swear the next person who leaves this here empty is going to get beat." if I make a mistake she will say loudly "try reading the slip next

  1. if she is using foul language at the work place that is a violation of your civil rights. does the management not know she is using the language or berating the help in front of the customers? trust me go straight to the management and let them know what she is doing. i dont care if she is over forty and working in an ice cream shop, we all have to work somewhere, but we dont have to act ignorant and we dont have to act like we are the only ones that what we are doing

  2. yes, you should complaint, she's acting like an little spoiled kid...

some older people think they can abuse other people because they are young, and they are wrong!

tell her straight to stop being so rude to you, tell her to drop it, if she keeps being like that report her to your manager, and in the best case she'll got punished or even fired!

  3. No.  She's not your boss, so tell her to get bent.  Tell her she's NOT going to kick your *** because she doesn't have the balls to.  Tell her not to yell at you in front of customers and if she has problem she can start acting like an adult and that being a ***** gets you nowhere.

    Do NOT take her c**p.

THEN complain to your manager.  Might as well get her fired, too.  Just for fun, really.

  4. Some people are just nasty, hateful people.

Talk to your managers and tell them everything.

If you can get a witness of her mistreatment of you to speak to your managers, even better.

Otherwise, you are going to have to endure this job,  or find another job.

  5. uh, yes. Absolutely! I worked with a bully like that once. I can tell you for sure she is JEALOUS of you. Take every means to get her busted. You can get small tape recorder at radio shack and put it in the center of your bra. Tape her talking to you like that and she'll get fired. Witch deserves it. There's no sense in people intimidating like that in the work place. In the mean time, start sending messages to her with your demeaner that you are not tolerating it. Put up your hand like a stop gesture and say things like "stop, joyce. I don't treat you that way and I don't expect to be treated that way" or "Back off joyce". etc. You need to reverse the message to her that it's okay to push you around. Good luck!

  6. I've worked with people like that, it's usually because they're miserable with their own lives and need to take it out on others. if it gets worse, report her to your manager as you shouldn't have to put up with it.

  7. You should talk to the manager..  she is definitely out of line.  She is the older woman and should be more mature and definitely not swear.  she gives that Ice cream place where you work..  called ''Friendlys a misanoma.. it should be renamed ''unfriendlies..'' with her shouting around swear words, that is absolutely unprofessional and she has a right to correct you but in a professional and polite way.. constructive criticism is allowed for you to learn but that won't happen if she shouts at you and pushes you out of the way.. that is harrassment at work you need to tell your boss... xx

  8. YES! Complain to your manager, especially if she is doing this in front of customers. It is not conducive to the running of a business for there to be open, visible hostility between coworkers. If you walked into a business and witnessed the staff fighting, would you want to shop/order food from there? Second, it seems to me that this woman is threatening you. Sure, it may not be a serious threat, and she may simply be blowing off steam, but it can be considered a case of harassment, something intolerable at nearly all businesses. Go to your manager and say something like, "Look, this woman is harassing me and making me look bad in front of customers, and I can't stand it anymore. The customers seem pissed and I'm having trouble concentrating on my work because of her abrasive attitude." This is something that you should not have to tolerate.

Plan B - Next time she b*tches at you about using a knife, plant it handle-deep in her f*cking throat. ;)

  9. You should not have to put up with this kind of stuff at work.  This woman is being a bully to you.  You should take it to your manager.  Additionally, I think the person who suggested that you tape record her doing this stuff had a good point.  If you do that, you will have undeniable evidence.  In any sense, this does need to stop.  If she is doing this in front of customers, it is embarrassing for you AND for the customers.  It probably makes the customers feel uneasy in the shoppe.  I'm surprised none of them have complained about it.

I worked at Wal-Mart when I was eighteen.  For some reason, some of the older people who work in jobs like that think they can walk all over the younger people.  So I know what you are talking about.

  10. It sounds like your co-worker is an abusive bully.  Be sure you document each instance of abuse, or threat and tell your manager.  Mention the curse words and treatment you recieve in front of customers, AND her insistence that you violate managerial policy.  These are aspects that not only make you uncomfortable, but also give off a bad impression on the business in general and hurts sales.  You have every right to a workplace that is free of intimidation or belittlement.

  11. Since you are a "young" adult it would be best if you mentioned her behavior to a manager.  If you feel threatened or abused they should know about it.. I would also document the best you can any instances of using verbal threats or poor language to you/around you or customers... Also, make yourself look/appear better to managers/customers by smiling, being upbeat/happy and have a kind customer service attitude even if you are being treated unfairly.

If she is asking you to do things you are not comfortable with... double check with a manager.  Don't use her drawer- and try to be as efficient as possible.. .If you make a small mistake apologize and move on... If at all possible kill her with kindness... If you think something needs to be filled or thrown away... Do so and leave it at that.... DO NOT involve gossip with other co-workers...

Be the better employee and the managers will notice...!  Maybe you'll get promoted and be her boss....!  Wouldn't that be a HOOT!

    Good luck

  12. omg yes you can definitly file a complain against her to your managers. She has absolutly no right to be saying those things to you and absolutly no right to push you. She probably feels like she is above you just because your 18 and shes 40 but she needs to realize that you both have the same job posittion so she is no more higher than you..........but umm yes you shoudl deff. tell someone about her behavior.

    hope i helped

  13. Just tell the manager what's going on here.  This woman's behavior is way out of line.  What?  Is she the boss or something?  Also, if she pushes you again make it perfectly clear to her that she is never to do this again.  Unwanted touching like this can be considered battery and you would be within your rights to call the police and have her arrested.  Make this fact known to your manager.

You might share with her the idea that more flies are caught with honey than with vinegar.

  14. Look...she's 40 and working at an ice cream shop. She already got hers.

  15. tell the manager about this problem , she has no right to do that to you.
