  1. Just rest a little. Don't quit though. Wait until it feels better and don't skate too long.

  2. I think you should give your body some time to rest (whether it be a few weeks or a few months) so your body gets time to heal. I would also talk to your doctor and to see if they think you should keep skating or if you should give it a rest or if you shouldn't skate again. Most likely you should just give your body a rest and then you can go ahead and keep skating. Good luck!

  3. Definately!

One thing i've learned from being a skater is " No Pain, No Gain". Another thing that me and my team-mates joke about is that if something doesnt hurt, it usually means that it is not right. The point of all this is that no matter what hurts or how many injuries you sustain, continue skating because it is a great sport and nothing will give you quite the same sensation. Do more back exercises, i myslef have a very stiff back and it hurts all the time. Just use a warm patch and stretch a bit and the pain will subside. Good Luck !

  4. definatly keep skating. im assuming its you lower back and its very common for you back to hurt after skating. i have been playing hockey for almost 20yrs and my back still hurts every once and a while after skating. so tough it out and good luck with your skating dreams.

  5. Pull through! You should keep going! In the future you'll be happy that you did

  6. It's highly likely your back problem isn't serious (I can't see someone destroying a back disc by doing Waltz jumps and Bunny hops).

If you can, you could visit an orthopedist to have your back evaluated. You could simply have a lumbalgia (which if that's the problem, it could have been easily treated when it first appeared). Lumbalgias with nerve compression can be treated with strong antiinflamatory drugs that are injected plus rehabilitation exercises. The treatment lasts only a few weeks, but the drugs are very expensive. The meds cost over 100 dollars in Mexico where medical treatments are only a fraction of the costs in the US. This number isn't counting in doctor fees or other things.

It's also possible you simply have contracted muscles in your back which can be treated with a simple professional massage (great stuff BTW). I just got my back for it's biannual fix yesterday.

If the back pain is pretty bad, avoid skating until a doctor knows what the problem is and treats it to avoid preventabe skating injuries that can haunt you. I'm still treating my old right knee injury to be frank with rehabilitation at the gym.

  7. Ugg, something always hurts when I skate.  :)  Skaters seem to develop a high pain tolerance.  You skate with what you can live with and take Alieve for what you can't.  haha  Skating is hard on the body.  Maybe check with your doctor to see if there are any exercises, weight lifting or anything else you can do to prevent the pain.  If it gets bad, obvioulsy, take a break from skating and check with your doctor.  If you love skating, you'll probably keep going with a reasonable amount of pain like most skaters do.  Maybe cut back on your skating a little to allow your back time to feel better.
