Question:

Should I continue to try to go after child support?

I've been trying to go after child support for 4 years now. My ex works "under the table" and keeps moving around. I haven't even been able to get paternity established because by the time the paperwork gets sent, he moves. I've been very cooperative with child support in giving them all the info I have. I understand I'm partly to blame for getting pregnant by him. But I'm feeling like I'm getting stalled and thinking it maybe a lost cause.

  1. Never give up, this is what he wants you to do.  It takes two to make a baby you weren't the only one involved here, he can't run forever.

He's trying to get out of this responsibility and figures that you will eventually give up.  Stay tough and don't let him get away with it.

  2. He is responsible for paying. Yes you got pregnant, but I believe it takes two to make a baby and two to help raise one. Keep going after him, your child may be out of high school by the time you get any money, but he will still have to pay.  My grandson is 27 and his mother is still getting a check because of his Dad trying to work the system.

  3. My daughter is 16 and her father just finally got a real job and settled down, after getting $16,000 behind in support.  He also would quit a job and move once we tracked him down.  Get the support order now, the amount he will owe will never go away and if he ever wants any kind of life for himself once he grows up, he will start making the payments.  Keep in mind that if he ever gets married, you can take anything he ever owns.  You can have any type of license revoked (driver's license, professional license) if he gets behind.  You can take his house and car right out from under him too.  Don't give up!  You WILL get what you and your child deserve someday.
