Should I cut my hair or not?

I have wavy hair and when I was a toddler I used to have very straight hair. By the time I was in 7th grade, my hair got wavy. I'm thinking about cutting my hair, not that short but like up to my shoulders to see if my hair becomes straighter or not. But I'm afraid that my hair will become curly and it will stick out and look very messy. What should I do?
