Or should I wait and add them after the cycling is complete?

How long should I cycle a... 64 litre tank?

  1. I suggest that you wait at least a week, most aquarium plants are very sensitive to aquarium water quality and with your tank going through the nitrogen cycle, that wont be a good thing for them. Hope this helps and good luck with your new tank!

  2. Sure you can... It's better to have plants in when ur cycling the tank.... Cycle time is the same as any other tank... 4-6 weeks

  3. Plants can go in right away. They aren't affected by the cycling process. That way you don't have to look at an empty tank so long either. Cycling can take about 4-6 weeks, but you can use biological additives to speed up the process a little. Don't add any fish during this time- focus on your plants!

  4. Old tank, new plants.

--> Cycling your tank first, then add plants later.

    Old tank with plants already:

1- take plants out, then cycling. By the way, wash your plants for its freshment: help to clean the whole tank. Then put your plants into tank, and pump water in.

2- cycling with plants in tank, you can clean the tank, then drain dirty water out. It's required that you do this way with careness

  5. it doesnt matter the plants will be just fine and they might even make it go faster.

  6. You know...I have had fish my whole life...36 years...and I have NEVER cycled a tank..Right now I have 23 tanks set up,100 gal.down to 5 gallons,I never loose a fish from disease or stress.I have some of the healthiest fish around here,,people come from all over to buy fish from me.I breed all sorts of fish...

I never could understand why people cycle their tanks...

But if it makes you feel better to cycle it,you should put the plants in right away..

  7. i strongly suggest you wait
