Question:

Should I die my hair platinum blonde?

Okay, so I went to the hairdressers two weeks ago and asked to get highlights of a light blonde (keep in mind everytime I ask for this I get a light yellowish colour, eurgh) but it turned out to be a light yellow...when I wanted propor, light blonde. She said if I come back in six weeks she would dye it bleach blonde for me but I honestly don't trust her.

So I was thinking 'why not do it myself' so I asked my mum what I should do. She explained to me when she was younger she died her hair bleach blonde and it kept coming off in clumps, but my hair is already blonde and when she was younger her hair was a very light brown.

Anyways, I found this on the Superdrug advert:

So should I do it? Or is it just unsafe? And is there any special tips I need as my hair is already blonde?

Here is my hair now:

(Keep in mind that my room is very pink, and the light reflects on my hair and makes it a tad brighter)

  1. I really wouldnt use that dye from Superdrug, I've used it before, it does make it blonde, but it gives a yukky brassy/yellow blonde, I would stongly suggest going to a different salon if you dont trust your current hairdresser. I know its more expensive but you will be thankful. I've got really blonde hair adn done it myself alot but its such a better result at the hairdesser, they will put a really strong bleach on your hair, then a toner, which will give it a more specific colour like beige blonde or cool blonde, a far classier.nicer colour than that on the pack! Believe me it doesnt come out the same as on the pack! and also if you do end up using that, get 2 packs since you have long hair otherwise it'll be patchy!

  2. i think you should go for somthing like this...

  3. Hair that's dyed platinum blond always looks totally tacky.

  4. Ur hair looks great as it is but ud look cool with platinum blonde. I'd recoment u get it done professionally but change ur hairdresser!

  5. i think it would look fine on you :)

  6. ah no sure ye don't even need ta...

ur hairs lovely as it is and while you would look nice platnium... it's not worth it in the long run..

and i still think you'd look nicer as you are now.

a friend of mine started dyein her hair platnium... her hair was thicker then yours...

now it's literally FALLING OUT! big clumps every time she brushes...

it's dead short now... she has bald patches and she's STILL dyeing it!!!

  7. I think platinnum blonde will wipe out your complexion.

  8. Find a new hairdresser . do not do it by yourself.

  9. Yes!  Platinum blonde would look great on you!

  10. Yes if you want to look completely chavvy.

  11. I think your hair is pretty how it is now but if you want to go lighter i would start with some highlights. If you try to go to blonde it could wash out your faces color making you look very pale. and also i wouldnt go with a box color because it is such a light color you might go to platinum in other words white hair could be the outcome

  12. I suggest you dye your hair rather than "die" it...lol

I like your hair color as it is, but I'm sure you'd also look good platinum for sure. btw I think you are really pretty...and you look GOOD in those jeans (mirror...haha)...def my kinda gurl..see i can misspell too...lol...bya

  13. I don't think you should do it.

And if you do, don't do it yourself!

  14. Do not go back to that woman. Try again. If you dye your hair right now it could be too harsh and kill it completely. You may just have to suffer it for a little while. I wouldn't go platinum blonde unless you're very very fair skinned. It doesn't look good on a tan. And by fair skinned I don't just mean sun deprived, I mean proper fair skin.

  15. In my opinion, platinum blonde hair doesnt look healthy. It looks fried. If you do dye it, you'll have to have continuous touch ups to avoid dark roots. I would find a more reputable hairdresser if you decide to.

  16. i dont know why girls are so superficial now. whether you are ugly or pretty, the colour of your hair wont change that

  17. Yeah, you could pull off platinium blonde for sure!

Your hair is already really blonde!

  18. Make sure that the product is a tint and does not contain bleach or ammonia - that could have been what did your mum's hair in.

It is often worth spending a bit more on one of the easy to use products such as those by Clairol as you can trust the colours.

Your hairdresser is not to blame for the difference in colour between what you wanted and what you got though.  Lots of things affect what colour it ends up including the actual make up of your hair - which she will have no way of testing.

Doing it at home at least you get to try it for a short time & then leave it on a bit longer if you don't get the results - your haridresser doesn't really have that luxury!

Good luck - I hope it turns out looking really good!

  19. NO DONT! I'd say that you colour it into pure brunnette.

Not black brunnette, but brown brunnette, like ... milk chocolate?
