  1. Don't do South America just because of a weak dollar .. do it because it's awesome!  I've traveled extensively in both Europe and South America and I would recommend South America hands down!  It tends to be a bit cheaper, but more importantly the nightlife is great, the scenery is amazing, the people are both friendly and beautiful, the food is awesome, and it's easy to get around.  I find that when I'm in Europe I tend to see a lot of churches and museums, but in South America there's more rafting, hiking, horseback riding, clubs, beaches, lakes, ancient ruins, etc. etc. etc.  Also, if you plan to stay at any youth hostels, I liked the overall scene a lot better in South America.  You have the opportunity to meet tons of people and most hostels organize tours and trips to local sites which are usually well worth it!  Have a great trip!

  2. did you not see the movie ' Turistas '

  3. Yes, I would recommend Latin America. People are nicer than those in Europe. It is cheaper too. Chile has nice fruits and wine,  people are extremely friendly and it safe too. Beautiful landscape around Santiago (except for smog). So does Argentina has great wine and meat and there is a nice European lifestyle in Buenos Aires. Brazil is mystical and simply marvellous.  And now it is winter in the southern hemisphere but it won't get that cold (no snow!).

  4. Hey if you can ...go to Paraguay...i lived there for like 17 years and I love it!  It is cheaper then Brazil, Argentina and Chile.  Ive been to those countries also and they all are worth checking out.  Ive been to Florianoplis Brazil twice and i loved it there.  Just do a google search on it and you will see why.  Ive been to Buenos Aires , mar del plata and southern Arg.  Bariloche is sweet.  Great during the summer months and winter.  Chile was pretty awesome too.  I ve been to Santiago and then down south by train.  We went as far as Isla Chiloe.  Lakes, Volcanoes very beautiful scenery.

Nightlife is the best part of Paraguay.  So cheap and beautiful women also.  Argentinian women in my opinion are the most beautiful in the world.  Nightlilfe there is top notch. Pricier then Paraguay.  I can't say much about Chile when it comes to Nightlife cause I was a kid when I went there.  Brasil is awesome when it comes to partying.  If you want to go to beach towns and party go to Brasil.  Oh yeah if you can... go to Punta Del Este en Uruguay...never been there but friends of mine have and my older brother and they loved it.  The beaches and nightlife there are considered the best in South America.  It might cost you more to fly to South America but you will save on hotels, food and other expenses.  I went to Europe last summer and man I had a blast but way expensive.  I went to Spain: Barcelona, Zaragoza, Calahorra, Manchester(UK), and Paris.  I went with one of my best friends who is half Spanish and so he has friends and family all over Spain, a friend in Manchester and friends in Paris.  So we didnt pay a dime for lodging.  So we saved a lot.

Ok so if you like to drink beer and party for cheaper go to South America.  If you go to Europe I recommend Spain!  I loved it there especially because I speak Spanish but also becasue of the way they live.  They know how to enjoy life. Cheaper then Paris and the UK and the food is the ****!!  Tapas, cava and sangria all day!  One thing you have to be aware if you plan on going to South America is to plan on having plenty of time to travel between countries there if you are planning to travel by bus or car.  It could get a little pricey to fly between countries there.  Just do some research on that because when I went down there last I had to have a visa for Paraguay and for Brazil.  And we drove to the beach in Brazil from Asuncion, Paraguay and back and that took like 30 hours.  Visas, look into that well before you travel.

Well I could keep rambling forever but I gotta go ...feel free to email me if you have any questions on Europe or South America!

    Peace,

    Ben

  5. Argentina, Brazil, and Chile are all beautiful. Chile is a bit more pricier than Argentina and Brazil but all of them have different things to offer. Brazil has culture, nightlife, and beautiful natural scenery such as Rio's bah and mountains. Argentina has great national parks and Buenos Aires is as close to Europe as you can get to in South America. Chile has amazing mountains and Easter Island is amazing! (flight is long and expensive). If in Argentina I would also check out Uruguay as you can get there by ferry from Buenos Aires. Colonia, Montevideo and Punta del Este are all beautiful cities in Uruguay and it is safe, beautiful and entertaining.

As a U.S. citizen, you will need a visa to enter Brazil (costs about $100) and you will have to pay a $100 entry tax to enter Chile (one time fee that is good until your passport expires).  Argentina and Uruguay you will have to pay a departure tax (usually between $7-$10).

By the way, the film "Turistas" is a bunch of c**p! Only ignorant people would refer to that movie if they have never been to Brazil but live off fictional films.

  6. Well Brazil, Chile and Argentina are all beautiful countries and have alot to offer a tourist.. I would do that , then later do Europe....
