Should I do the combined degree in archaeology and anthropology?

The reason I am asking is because I am interested in both of these degrees but wonder if I would loose out on both of these subjects by doing a combined degree? And also is it any good?

  1. At the undergrad level it won't matter, but when you go to apply to graduate programs (which you will need to attend for an anthro degree to be worth anything), you will need to choose between the two.

  2. whether it is good depends on the school.

it is unlikely that you will "loose out" by doing a double major.  In most colleges, what you give up is a lot of Electives - you still have to meet all the requirements of the Archeology degree and the Anthropology degree.

if you look at the school catalog, you should be able to make a list, to see if you actually miss any courses.

  3. archeology is part of anthropology and vice versa. these subjects are very complementary and you will probably find some overlap, so i think it would be beneficial to do both.

doing a double major usually means less electives, so a more specalized appraoch on the 2 major subjects. so if you like both then its a good idea.

as for if it is any good, well that would depend on the school :)

  4. the both are great but

archaeology is science of discovering & looking on the past take on the informations off whose are sleping any where any time

antroplogy is scence hose is show liks between human & history in general (animal whose are come from sea...ect)

  5. yes do it!!

My anthropology degree focused mainly on social anthropology (Levi Strauss, Morgan , Marx, Durkheim, Engels, Tylor etc etc) when I was really interested in biological anthropology. Only had a few modules on the degree that covered the evolutionary/biological/archaeological side.

SO GO FOR IT AND ENJOY!!!!!!    :))))))

  6. Do the combined degree.

You won't lose out, infact the opposite- it will broarden and strengthen your knowledge and an employer would really value that.
