I'm in the 10th grade going on to the 11th grade. Someone told me I should try out for volleyball. Right now we are foing conditioning and I was ok with the weight training. But we started open gyms and I really didn't like it. I think it's because I'm not that good at it. I don't like to run at all but someone said there is a lot of running. So should I play or not?

  1. well, i dont like running either (and stupidly, i signed up for track) but i did volleyball, and the running gets waaay easier as u go on. (especially after conditioning)

    hope i helped

  2. yes i play and i love it

  3. You don't reall run in volleyball that much, but volleyball doesn't seem like much of a sport for you. Trust me, it's a very hard sport and good luck trying out.

  4. don't worry too much about running - i absolutely hate running but i managed to play starting line up this year (we made it to the quarter finals)

but be sure to drink lots of fluids-- they help!

you just need to be quick on your feet

  5. well volleyball does involve a lot of practice and a lot of working out especially running. so if your not the running type of person maybe you shouldn't. but if you're really dedicated then it might work out

  6. yes , I play and I really enjoy it.

  7. Well volleyball is A LOT of running, at practice I had to run 52 sprints from end line to end line. It is also something you do not learn quickly. I have played for 6 years and I am still improving and learning. It is up to you. Volleyball is a great sport and I am glad you are interestes in it. GOOD LUCK!!!

  8. volleyball cannot be started in 11th grade, I started in fourth grade, it takes time to develop skill, and volleyball is really competitive in high school, so I would try something else, unless this summer you can practice really hard to make the team.

  9. Yes volleyball is so much fun!

  10. no you're starting too late you won't be good

  11. I play volley ball and I don't do a lot of running. Its your chose if you don't like volley ball then go with what your gut says.

  12. If you didn't like the open gym which is volleyball, you probally won't like the volleyball part. Plus it is unbelievably hard to start your junior year when everyone else is alot more expierienced

  13. you should play if you really like playing volleyball.if you dont want it, its useless for all of your hardwork for all of it.

  14. yes, well you should give it a try I think you might find it interesting I know I did when I started. Volleyball is a great sport you get a lot of excerscise, which is always good thing, and you get to meet a lot of good friends. and I would say that the best thing is that you get to travel and the games are always the funnest.

  15. You run a lot in volleyball, I dont like running either, but for me it is worth it, I love the sport, it is challenging, you have a team to back you up, but you also have to be good yourself. I think you might have a hard time going into any new sport your junior year, but it is a lot of fun to me.

  16. probably not it's not that you're not good but if you dont like running then u should'nt. I had to run 50 times around my gym at practice (practice for me was 4days a week, u had to run everyday)!!

  17. I play it everyday, I am in team. It is very fun, I love it.

  18. There is a lot of running for Conditioning, just like any other sport you would play. But if you don't like it don't play it. I does take practice to be good at anything you do. SO think about it, maybe try open gym for a little bite longer and see how it goes. Maybe you will get better and like it more. If not then at least you tried. Trust me, one day you do not want to wonder if you should of tried it, because you will not be able to go back when you get older.

  19. PLAY! no one likes to run except the track stars its just conditioning to get you in shape for the season and those long intense volleys.

  20. of course you should play

  21. Yes! I wasnt going to play v-ball but then when i did it i had so much fun and it was good training to. Yu will get better at it after you get used to it. At first i was not good at  all now im preety good. Make the choice you want to make. You might regreat not trying it though.

  22. yes i love volleyball its so fun ive been doing it since 8th grade and im now in 10th. i think u would like it!

  23. yes it is so fun i don't like to run either but after i loved it

so you should at least try.

  24. If you're just starting volleyball in the 11th grade, although you might have fun on a j.v. team, i don't think its worth it. Depending on how good your school's team is, there may or may not be a lot of running. If your school is serious about volleyball, however, like mine is, there will be practices where all you do is run. Volleyball is a serious and intense sport when taken seriously, and in that case i would say no, don't play. However, if you are looking for a fun time with friends and to be involved in a school sport, i think its a great idea.

  25. I mean it is not that you have to do a lot of running in the game really what matters is your reaction timing and how quick you can get to the ball.

You do not have to be able to have endurance it is more quickneess

  26. In high school, volleyball isn't a sport, its more like a way of life. You have practices most days of the week and all of your teammates are really serious about it. If you can't be as serious about it you really shouldn't play. I hope I helped, some good sports that doesn't require a lot/any running is swimming and horseback riding.

  27. You should join volleyball if you like it, not if someone makes you. Have fun if it's ur sport. The question is, do you like volleyball?

  28. no, running is key

  29. My opinion is you should at leest try out and then see if your good enough it never hurts to try but yes running is key right now i am doing track do be in shape for volleyball and im not even fat im just doing it so i dont have to whine when volleyball comes around and we run
