Question:

Should I donate some money to the villagers?

I recently destroyed the village community centre after an accident involving a homemade car and a catapult.

The village do not know that it was me who was responsible for the destruction, but there are now serveral problems. Apparently the children can no longer attend their groups and classes, and the various charity events planned can no longer take place.

As the wealthiest and most influential figure in the area, the community has appealed to me to donate some funding to restore the building. Obviously, money is no object and I could probably have the building rebuilt by the end of the month. But should it really be my responsibility to build something I have no interest in?

  1. yes.

  2. You know what old bean, I think you should have the place resurrected and I offer you some good old fashioned logical reasoning as to why. I do believe that these groups, charities and what not are a jolly good thing for you, as they occupy the peasants and allow them to experience some form of joy (apparently helping others can stimulate such feelings; extraordinary isn't it?), which detracts from their investigating of the destruction. And let's face it my dear fellow, if you fix the damned thing, they will look upon you with even greater awe than they do now. Basically, though you have no interest in the place, it does actually hold interest for you. Before you know it you'll have a(nother) statue erected in your honour, and we must always remember that, unlikely as it seems, we may one day rely on the commoners to help us out of a rather pressing situation (can't imagine what that would be, but as Baden Powell put it "be prepared", what).

  3. I sympathise entirely with your dilemma. Noblis has its bilge!

I recently caught one of my servants pilfering meat from the pantry and had no choice but to nail him to the wall in the scullery and stuff a fish in his mouth.

Let them eat Hake I say!

As for your community centre-less villagers, are there no Nissan huts, no Andersen shelters.....no workhouses?

In my day three or more of those rustic oiks gathered together in one of those places was classed as a riot!  Sounds like a hotbed for mutiny to me.

Fix bayonets.... give 'em some cold steel!

Pah! the d**n countries gone to the dogs!

    How derry vare day!

Is there honey still for tea matron?

    .

  4. as you are the landowner does not the village also come under your sphere of control? get a grip man, how could you even think of offering recompense? im starting to wonder if you are "new money" after all ;-)

  5. I did something worse I sent 20 UFOs to kidnap Justin timberlake and replace him with a reptilian lucky for me no one noticed

  6. You're failing to see how this act of charity can benefit you. You can swoop down, full of grace and oozing with cash and save the day! Have the center rebuilt and let people know it's you that's doing it. When people thank you, just say it's nothing, that you only wish you could do more to help those darling children. Build a library wing onto the center. Maybe one day one of those darling urchins can be your loyal accountant!

  7. Are you completely insane man? Even the donation of your thinking time is of far too much value to be giving out willy-nilly to those peasant types. Let them eat cake - Only make sure it's not yours.

  8. This depends on morals!

    Do you have them?????????//

  9. if you destroyed it in the first place then it i completely your resposibility to pu it back to the way it was. Stop being so selfish, have a heart and give some money, of money is no object to you then what is it to give a little to help other, seems to me like you wouldn't miss it and it would mean a lot to everybody else.

  10. Good god, no. The more you give them the more they want. If they have to struggle for it they'll appreciate it even more. Be strong for them, tell them to go to h**l

  11. If you have no interest it in, why invest? I am, of course, assuming that by 'donate' you don't mean merely to give them the money - surely it must be paid back, with 10% interest!?

I have a friend attempting to break into gin production. There was that one 'incident' that is making the gathering of funds rather more complicated, but surely it's more use than some community centre?

  12. I do believe you've turned all sixes and sevens on us! Such a pursuit makes for a poor investment, and your money could be much better spent on fine wines, and the moat I have mentioned in your previous inquiry regarding the lion. Remember - they're poor for a reason!
