Today in the automatic updates this service pack 3 was available to download. The wizard window popped up and was asking to back up files and close programs. I have a few questions to ask so bare with me.

Note: I have service pack 2.

1. Should I download this version or not?

2. When I was about to back up my files where should I back them up to, do I need to insert a drive or cdrw or cdr to back them up there. on the BackUp Utility?

3. If i download it will it cause any minor or major problems?

4. After the service pack 3 is on the computer, will the files be deleted if I don't back it up?

5. Should I need a back up for all my files and folders?

6. What kinds of drives, files or folders should I really need to back up?

Please I need to know if i should or should not download it.

Thanks

  1. 1. Yes.

    2. Doesn't matter.

    3. No, it's just a series of OS fixes. If anything, it will get rid of problems.

    4. No, SP3 is an upgrade, not a restore. If everything goes properly, nothing will get deleted.

    5. You probably don't have to, but it's always a good idea. There's just a very slight chance that something will go wrong.

    6. If you decide to back up, just back up important documents, photos, etc. Just a copy of your My Documents folder should be fine.

  2. never caused me any problems at all
