Question:

Should I dress my baby boy in blue at all times ?

Strangers are constantly complimenting me on my beautiful baby girl. But... hello, he's a BOY! It do notice that it is guaranteed to happen when he's wearing yellow. Isn't yellow a neutral color?! But, it also happens when he's dressed in blue. Even some of my family tells me that he looks like a girl.

What is it about him that looks so feminine to some people? Please, be honest!! Is it the hair??

  1. No matter how much blue you put on him people will still end up calling him a girl. (Not because he looks like one, I don't think he looks femininen but he does need a hair cut!) My daughter was always being referred to as a boy, even when she was wearing all pink and covered in a pink blanket! People can be so blind at times!!

  2. He's adorable! I'm loving the hair, although because it's kind of long, some people might mistake him for a girl.

You know, when my daughter was a baby, she didn't have any hair for her first year. Because of that, I had LOTS of people mistake her for a boy. Most of the time, I had her in all PINK!

It seems nobody really pays much attention to the colors you have them in. They need to just keep their mouths shut if they're uncertain. Or, flat out ASK if it's a boy or a girl.

  3. I think what they are saying is that he's so pretty they think he's a girl. But,  I'm even bad about looking at the clothes to determine if it's a boy or a girl.

  4. I noticed that he has lots of hair...which may be the culprit.  Alot of moms now slick it up to look like a little mohawk and it's pretty cute.

  5. Omg you know something, I get this all the time too! Everyone will say, oh she's adorable...Im like Oh he's a boY!!! LOL

Especially if he isnt in blue! But even when he is in blue, people think he's a little girl....my mom even tells me, he has perfect features, so it makes him look like a girl. To me he looks like a boy lol, a perfect little BOY!!

Ya know, I think it's because our baby boys are just so beautiful!! :)

  6. I can totally relate.  My son, even when he is dressed in blue in his blue car seat, people still say, "What a beautiful little girl!"  His name is Morgan, which a lot of people are calling girls, but it happens even when they don't know his name.  My son has no hair.  I think your son looks like a boy to me, but I decided for myself that people just assume that it is a girl if it is a beautiful baby.  Just take it in stride.  If you aren't ready to cut his hair yet, don't.  I don't think that it is really all that long.

  7. I think some people always assume that babies are girls!! I got it with both of my boys and they are usually in blue! I guess what got to do is say, 'Why thank you, I think HE is pretty cute too!' or use your baby's name.

  8. I understand.  I dressed my little girl in a turtle neck shirt with a big lacy heart on it.  The pants had attached suspenders with lace running down from the back to the front.  And I had someone ask me what HIS name was.

I don't think he looks particularly feminine.  Sometimes people just assume and figure they have a 50-50 chance.

You might try a baseball or other guy type cap and maybe that would help if he would wear one.

  9. he's absolutely gorgeous.

  10. He does sort of look feminine, but I think its mainly the hair in his face. Try slicking it back with some baby oil

  11. Had the same problem.... Then yesterday, at Wally World, everyone said  "What a cute lil' boy!"...

Got the haircut this past weekend.

I think it's the hair.  :)  But who cares?  If you aren't ready to cut it, just smile and ask if they want to change your baby's diaper.  They will figure it out then ... hehehe :)

  12. Thank you for my AWWWW moment of the day. Your baby boy is adorable!  I would maybe go ahead and have his hair cut.  It is not a bad idea to throw blue in whenever you can.  A baby's gender is hard to tell until they get a little older.  It always helps me when I see a mom with her child and they are in pink or blue. :-)

  13. HEH people (strangers) compliment me on my lovely baby boy and i have a beautiful baby girl and i smile and say thanks. I  am much to blame though cause i dress her in blue all the time my mom wanted a grand son so she bought blue clothes. to me though she looks a lot better in blue stuff.

  14. to be honest ..its the hair..maybe its time to give him his first hair cut.. hes very cute!!

  15. I know what you mean---but it's not his looks that get people--it's my son's name. Riley---it's a BOYS name that has now become unisex so everyone now assumes he's a girl. I even catch his doctor slipping up sometimes saying "she" instead of "he". It drives me crazy!! They did that in the NICU too.

I dress Riley in all sorts of colors. Blue, green, yellow, white, red, black & orange.

Maybe its because your son (IDK if you want me calling him by name) has such beautiful hair!!

  16. your baby is adorable!  sometimes it's hard to tell gender at that age.  It personally wouldn't bother me to correct someone and say "he's a boy, but thank you."  My husband on the other hand would probably never leave the house without the baby in some type of sports jersey...

  17. his hair is what is confusing people.

most people see long hair and think "girl" and short hair and think "boy" its an old stereotype, but its still doing the rounds.

Cut his hair and no one will ever thing he's a she again.

    p.s He's soooo cute!!!

  18. I don't think he looks like a girl.  He looks too stinkin' cute!!!

for some reason, people seem to always assume a baby is a girl.

Buy him on of these shirts.... then people will get it right LOL
