I am planning on joing the Air Force. I am done with two years of college. I'm trying to decide if I should go ahead and enlist, finish school while serving, and then become an officer or go ahead and finish college and then become an officer? What should I do?

  1. yes

  2. Honestly, it depends on what you are going to school for.  The Air Force is looking for Officers with highly technical degrees.  No offense to anyone, but a degree in English isn't what the AF is looking for.

  3. If you join the full time Air Force now, it will probably take you at least 4  years to complete your last 2 years of college.

My suggestion is either to join the Air Force Reserve which is part-time so you can go to school full time or just wait the two years to go into the full time Air Force as an officer.

  4. I can only tell you what i would do: First    finish school

                                                       second     apply for OCS

Best of luck to you and thanks for wanting to serve our country.

  5. You're halfway through college. Drive on and finish college and graduate and get your commission to become an officer if you feel motivated to lead troops when you get to the military. You never know when you'll be able to come back to finish your degree.

  6. Statistically speaking, if you enlist now, you're not going to finish a degree soon enough to go to OTS.

  7. well do you want to pay for school or have the govt pay for it? the af promotes education more than any other branch. go for it now and then you'll understand both sides. enlisted and officer. good luck.
