Question:

Should I exercise my triceps in addition to push-ups?

3 times a week I do a workout routine. I also either run or bike 4-5 times a week.

For the routine I do push-ups and ab work (bicycle crunches and "hundreds"), and use dumbbells for the shoulders, back and biceps.

After a few months of this it's definitely working...I have a lot more tone and muscle definition. But should I also throw in some dumbbell lifts for the triceps?

When I do push-ups I try to plant my hands at a width that exercises both the chest and triceps evenly. Is there any benefit to also doing separate lifts with the triceps?

  1. Definitely, you want to be strong everywhere, however, you can do normal pushups which work your biceps, or you can do tricep pushups, where you fold your arms backwards rather than out to the side, this will help work your, chest, biceps, and triceps if you do both kinds. Hope this helps.

  2. you can do tricep push-ups

and then wide spread military pushups

    those work both parts
