  1. No... you should have known from the lease you signed what is or is not included.  If he does not include garbage, then he doesn't.  Live & learn... you'll know next time you rent to ask about that.

  2. Normally, in an apartment complex where everyone shares, then, yes. The landlord would pay to have trash hauled for everyone. He'll have a commercial account.

If you rent a single-family home, then, no. You would be expected to pay for all services you consume, typically. You would have a residential account.

And the city can fine the landlord if trash service stops, too.

Some counties arranged to include trash service on the property tax bill. In that situation, the landlord would pay that fee, and you can assume the cost is passed on to you as rent.

That said, let's address "expect." With a rental situation, you should ask all questions in advance! There should be nothing left to expectation before you move in. Please do not be afraid to speak to your landlord. It's just business, nothing personal.

  3. In an apartment, the landlord will pay for the garbage bill. If it's a house, you're going to have to ask and make sure that it's a apart of your rental agreement.

  4. Yes if it is a communial bin, but no if you have your own trash can.
