Should I feed them more??

I had to feed Iams, because my town, has not received our shipment of Wellness Core yet...With WC I had my dogs food measured out to fit their needs. But I'm not sure If they are getting enough now, I am feeding the same amount of kibble as I would WC, and still adding the cooked chicken, carrots, broccoli, and blueberries...but they are all giving me the "hungry face"...

Should I give them more kibble?

  1. I would. On the rare occasions that I've ran out of the Canidae that I feed, I've had to make do with the best of the bad for a day or two. And that's when I realized that it took twice as much, or more, of a low quality kibble to satisfy them, and they were hungry much quicker....awww and I hate the "hungry face":(

  2. I also live in a rural location and have the same problem 3  or 4 times a year in which case I have to feed Iams for 2 or 3 days. I really think they are still hungry after eating the Iams so I give them an extra half a cup with each meal. It's not much more but it seems to make a difference. I feel bad when I get the "hungry face"

  3. ~ typical. They have gotten a taste of junk food and like every kid they just want more. Their are alot of aditives which makes it a yummy treat, like McD's. Not the best thing but they want more. Just know it is a temporary food and get them back on their normal WC as soon as it comes in. They don't care if it is good for them, they want junk food lol. Sounds like my kids.

  4. I swear, dogs never get full. :)  Read the back of the bag and don't feed them more than the recommended amount for their age and weight.  If you think they are still hungry only a few hours after their meal give them a couple doggie biscuits for a snack, or some carrots etc.

  5. Think of it like this: Iams is like potatoe chips or McDonalds fries to dogs, salty and greasy, of course they will beg for more if they are not used to eating like that. And yes that dog food is just as bad for them as a human eating fries/chips every day. I personally dont feed my dog any kibble.

  6. Are you feeding them twice a day.Maby they are beeing greedy. My dog gives me the hungry face when ever i have food or when i just fed him.

  7.   all my puppies and dogs have been purina eaters since they have been born and they eat half as much food as others say they feed their dogs. they have half as much f***s because it is all digested and it doesnt smell.

  8. They probably did not get enough since Iams is all processed junk and has no nutrients.  I would give them some more fruits or vegetables cut up

*I have to feed cody Iams tonight for the same reason...

Lol, im sorry if i came off like you did not know it was bad for them!

  9. Iams has more filler than Wellness. I'd watch your dogs body condition, if they look thin, feed more. You may have to feed more of the Iams to match what they were getting with Wellness.

My own dogs  can put on a pretty good OMG I'm starving act. They're not, they just their food.

Iams also has sprayed on fats to make it more palatible, so they may be begging because of that too.

  10. Look on the back of the bag! =P

Wellness core is WAY more healthier. That means less food! So I would feed more food! (Because IAMS is very unhealthy!Look at this...

    Canidae - Chuckles got 4 cups,Sampson got 3.

Lassie - Chuckles got 4 cups, Sampson for 3.

Maxximum Nutrition - Chuckles gets 5 cups, Sampson gets 4.

See? The better the food the less they need.

  11. Iams, is not the best food
