I just got fired. I was there for a week but I absolutely hated the job. I knew that I sucked at it though. My only regret is that I didn't quit first. Should I feel bad for getting fired? And how do I make myself feel better?

  1. Yes you should feel bad. Getting fired isn't a good thing. Even if you hated the job you still should have given 110%. Now what are you going to do about a reference? You never know when you will need someone so don't burn bridges in life. Even if you where there for only a week. At least they could have said you were only there a week but you are a hard, dedicated, and dependable worker. You want to feel better get another job paying more that you like. Good Luck

  2. You shouldn't feel bad at all.

First, people get fired all the time. It's not uncommon. As well, people get fired for lots of different reasons and, often, it's not because they are incompetent. The most common reason someone gets the boot is that "they don't fit in" Which means they had a conflict with the manager or most of the coworkers. The next most common reason is that mistakes happened on both sides. But when something goes terribly wrong, upper management wants someone's head to roll over it so they bottom person gets the boot, even though the direct manager/supervisor made mistakes and shares in the blame. And there are other reasons people get fired.

In your case, it sounds like it was a bad fit. You admit you hated the job and it showed. Think of it more as a workplace you shouldn't have joined. you just didn't fit it. There are certain workplaces that I don't fit in and jobs that I'm not suited for. That's all. It doersn't mean you won't fit in somewhere else and have a job that you love!

Don't let the experience get you down. Look at it as it not being a good fit.

    Best,
