Question:

Should I feel bad for taking higher position

There are two people assisting my bosses, myself and another girl. Recently appointments and meetings have been getting mixed up and when its my mistake I take the blame and when it's her mistake she immediately denies any fault. Some clients have complained about her grammar and now she is losing her job and I am taking the full time job of assisting alone. I am excited because the money is great and I just moved into a new apartment and I needed the money but at the same time I feel guilty for recieving a better job while she is losing one and she was hired before me. Should I feel bad or should I be proud that I have achieved this position??? I wish her the best of luck

  1. It doesn't matter, you're not her.  Just think about yourself.

  2. You shouldn't feel bad.  You owned up to your mistakes when you made them, and it doesn't seem like any clients had a problem with you.  Employers value honesty and are going to be more pleased when their clients are happy, as this will likely increase business and profits.  Well done.

  3. Don't feel bad. Obviously the better person won. Feel compassionate though and find a way to have some empathy with her while remaining honest about the situation. Although I would guess she won't want to hear it.

Good on you for doing a fantastic job.

  4. good for you, don't feel bad
