My dad found a cat that was dragging both his back legs I'm assuming he got hit by a car and his eye was popping out too. So we tried feeding it but it wouldn't eat it looked like it was in alot of pain so I decided to take it to the shelter and as soon as we arrived one of the ladies looked at it and said "this cat is dying" and I felt so bad because she said they were going to have to put it to sleep. I could't help to feel sad and a lil. guilt for taking it in.

  1. Don't feel guilty you tried your best you had to now the poor kitty won't be in pain anymore

  2. Wouldn't you want to end it if your legs were broken and eyes falling out?

You shoudn't feel guilty of all, the cat is in better place know.

  3. You should feel guilty had you not taken it in.  Letting it suffer alive like that would have been horribly mean.  It would not have recovered from those extensive injuries.  You did the right thing.

  4. You did everything perfectly. You have allowed the cat to die in comfort and happiness with plenty of love. You should not feel guilty at all, you gave the cat good hospitality and cannot help the fact its dying. The only thing you did was show it love, you should be PROUD.

  5. please dont feel guilty.  i once passed a turtle on the highway and went back around to get him.  i was going to bring him to safety when i saw that his shell was badly cracked and he was bleeding.  i brought him home and found things on the internet that said that he may not survive his injury.  so, i dropped him off at an animal hospital.  i knew that they may be putting him to sleep because he was wildlife, but i didn't want him to be somewhere in the wild - bloody, become infected, and have bugs feeding off him and possibly eventually dying like that.  i didn't want him to die, but i felt that leaving him with professionals was better for him.

  6. YOU shouldn't feel guilty; you did the most humane thing you could do.  Sometimes trying to heal a cat is worse than giving it it's freedom from the pain.

The person that SHOULD feel guilty is the jerk that let it happen.

PEOPLE:  Take care of your cat, keep it inside, get it veterinary care and love it with all your heart.

  7. let me just say one thing its the circle of life iv went throe it

  8. No, you did the right thing. The cat was probably in horrible pain and beyond help. Ending the cat's suffering was the best thing you could have done.

  9. I don't think you should feel guilty at all.  You did the right thing, by helping the cat out of its misery.  It's more than the idiot driving the car did, isn't it?  Just from your description, it sounds like its injuries were quite severe; so the shelter deciding to euth it was a sound decision and was the BEST one for the cat.  It is okay to feel sad; so many people injure animals, whether deliberately or accidentally, and do nothing to help them ease their pain.  You should try to find comfort in knowing that at the end, you did something for the cat that he probably never had experienced before; you showed him unconditional love and sympathy.  Bless you and your dad for doing something so caring and unselfish for a helpless animal!

  10. Think of it this way.

You're a cat, and slowly dieing. Your in a tremendous amount of pain, when suddenly *gasp* a strange man and his daughter save you. They try giving you food, but you're too upset to eat. They figure they should save you and take you to the animal shelter. When you get there they decide to take all your pain away, instead of dieing a slow and painful death your going to die a semi-peaceful one.

So you shouldn't feel guilty! You saved it from pain!

  11. Don't feel sad. I am now wiping tears. I feel sad too. The kitty really was dying and it was in a lot of pain. When the animal was put to sleep you were actually doing it a favor.  The kitty was suffering a lot and there wasn't much you could do to save it. The kitty was able to go out peacefully because the pain ended.

Don't feel guilty. Yes, it is sad, but just know that the kitty is in a much better plus and you did your best to save it. Bless it's sweet little heart and bless yours for taking it in

  12. no way should you feel guilty.. one of the kindest things to do is put a suffering animal to sleep. its not very nice but its better than the cat being in pain. if it werent for you the animal would have suffered some more. dont feel guilty please you helped

  13. if the kitty was that badly injured and in so much pain then it was the only humane thing to put it to sleep, the cat was obviously in no way shape or form of showing signs of recovery and you done your best. Please dont feel guilty. you done the only thing possible and the vet knew best. at least kitty will be at peace now and you should be at peace knowing you tried your best before taking him/her to the vets. I wish all people had so much compassion for sick or injured animals.
