Okay guys, heres the deal, I'm 20 years old, (& i feel pretty old to be startin).. I wanna get into MMA & eventually the UFC.. i'm 180 pounds, but i can prolly cut to 170 division.. Well BIG QUESTION here.. I wanna fight but i duno how to approach it.. I've been practicing with my younger bro he is 18 & my weight & height. we spar once & a while, but neither of us are great technique wise.. I'm really determined in anything I do, & my upper body strength is okay, not so much lower body, althought I am flexible & I find my self pretty good on the ground, I kno wthe basic guards & mounts, kinda know how to pass & a few submisisons. Do you think I can make it big, self trained? Do i need more experience, shuld I wokr out more, how do i train, etc ,etc? I guess to sum it up.. What should I do to make it into the Ufc & be successful in the MMA as quick as possible?

  1. If you are only fighting your brother how do you know how good you are. Maybe take mma classes and see how you stack up against the others.

  2. if you want.

  3. ...you dont sound like a fighter...you have to want to fight, heart and will is the most important thing, all the fighters who succeed are all born fighters who had will and heart, and loved to fight....but from it seems like you dont have it, cuz you wouldnt be asking "should i fight"

  4. Join a camp. Make sure it offers a wide range of programs from Muay Thai to BJJ. As far as UFC goes, it often takes a lot of hard work and dedication to get into a division that large. Remember that you're going to have to train hard, and start small before you just pop into the UFC. Work hard, stay in weight, begin competing when you feel is fit. Get sponsored, win tournaments and depending on how well you do you'll make ripples, and then maybe Uncle Dana White, might be contacting you. Oh, and unless you're Kimbo Slice, you won't be getting insta-famous.

  5. You definitely need to train hard and with a professional.

You need to work on your standup and ground work.

I'd suggest Muay Thai & Boxing for your standup and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for your ground.

  6. Join A Martial Arts place, just not karate because its stupid.

  7. Simply put, at 20 years old without a resume of either street fighting or tournaments under your belt, you won't be able to compete with the "lifers" in the professional leagues. Do it as a hobby if it's what you love to do, but remember that "if you have to ask...".

  8. your not gonna make it big by just training with your brother becuase your not gonna get any better training with sumone as good as you, you need to start gettin seriouse and working out and training in mma, more specifically muy-thai and brazillian jiu-jitus becasue there the most popular so even if your not the best at them you can atleast recognize and defend agaisnt them, also dont worry about being too old, chuck liddell didnt start till years after getting out of college and hes one of the best.

also  zinshin can suck a nut, karate is a great form of self defense and is designed around killing and maiming your oppenent, i would no iv trained in it for 13 years now and iv never lost a fight, h**l youll learn to kill people in no time in karate, also the last guy to beat tito ortiz is a karate fighter and chuck liddell credits his victories to his koi kan karate past
