Question:

Should I fight the apartment

Recently, my roommate moved out with his name still on the lease. He ended up subletting his room even though it forbids it in the contract. When we moved in, he started sleeping with one of the leasing agents, who in turn gave him a free pass on all late charges, and other fees he personally acquired. Now, I've learned that this leasing agent knew he subleased the apartment even though it states in his contract that he isn't allowed to do so. When I talked to her and asked her about that, she confirmed that subletting wasn't allowed and tried telling me that I should get the sub-tenant to sign the leasing contract and then release my old roommate from the contract.

I told her 'no' because she had made it clear that once my roommate is off the contract, I would be held responsible for everything. Not to mention, the guy that my roommate got to sublease has already stated he only planned on staying for a couple of months so he had no intention of signing the contract.

Even with all this, the leasing agent is trying to pressure me in letting my old roommate off the lease. She stated that they could come after me for subleasing his room, even though he's the one who subleased it, not me.

My roommate wouldn't talk to the agent when she called for a while because he didn't want much to do with her after having s*x with her. Now, a couple months later, he's suddenly taking her on a date, even though he said last week he wished she'd leave him alone.

Should I talk to the Apartment corporates? What should I do, because this leasing agent is allowing him to get away with everything and trying to leave me to pay for it.

  1. I would contact your local tenants right agency and ask them for advice.  She can't just come after you since his name is also on the lease and he's the one that sublet his room.

  2. if she is just the leasing agent talk to a manager. things like that shouldnt be tolorated. hopefully it doesnt fall on you. good luck

  3. The only correct reply is from Priss.

Apartments get bad people to work for them as any business does.

The manager or owner may not know what took place.

I would fire her on the spot if you told me.

After informing the manager and they do not take the proper measures to correct this, then contact lawyers and such.

No lawyer will take this case unless you pay them.

If you are the only one able to pay off a judgement, they can collect from just you.

Then you have to sue your roommate.

You should evict the new subletter.

By allowing them to stay, you are also wrong for allowing it to take place.

I see people get roommates off Craigslist without knowing anything about them.

Then they wonder why they get screwed?

If you lived at my complex and informed me about this agent, she would be fired on the spot.

Sorry, but you have to get this new roommate removed, not the complex.

Fair, no, but do not allow them to stay unless they sign the lease. Becuse this make you wrong.

I also have a roomates release form.

One roommate signs off and moves, the other states they are taking full resonbility for the apartment.

Taping people in many states is also against the law.

In Arizona only one party has to know you are taping, which would be you.

    Check State laws.

  4. You better start documenting everything, im serious, even to the degree of taping this s**t..of a leasing agent...because unless u have back/up as to what she is trying to pressure you into,  it is a clear case of he said she said.......UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCE

Take him off that Lease, sign nothing that ***** gives you to sign....Please .......go to see whoever is above Ms.Hot Pants.

    Best regards.
